"One day at a time--this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering."

Keeping A Song In My Heart

Creating is one of my biggest stress relievers
and something that gives me so much pleasure.  But
along with creating, I also LOVE MUSIC!!

"Music is what feelings sound like."
author unknown

I had some fun tonight and began painting
a little songbird She isn't finished yet, but I
would like for YOU to give me some more
ideas on what to add to her.
I added the little song hat for fun.  I still need to
do some more work on the background flowers but
also think the little singer needs something more???
Maybe an idea popped into your head just now.
Please oh please, share it with me.
I am sure that I have loved music
ever since coming out of the womb!
I remember my mother singing and humming
around the house when I was a little girl.  Sometimes she
would even dance a little jig while drying the dishes.
And she could really play the piano.  She
had an illness that caused her a lot of a pain and
heart ache, but when she was singing or playing music
she always wore a Smile..... and
that made me smile and want to sing too.

My mom and dad and me

I remember my grandmother
having me and my two
younger sisters sing in church when we no older
than 8, 6 and 5...and our background
music was a record on a record player that
she brought from home!  Isn't that funny?

Then my grandfather would bribe us by
paying us each a quarter
for singing to the relatives or any company
that stopped by for a visit. Actually, we were
still doing this for our grandpa, not only as those young tots,
but even when we were in high school!!!!
  Not because of the quarter
(although he still gave us one),
but because we couldn't say no to seeing him
so happy when we sang for him.

I married my hubby who LOVES music also.
He sings special music numbers with me at church
and we both
sing with our church Worship Team.
Naturally our daughters love music too,
after being a part of
all of those sing-a-longs in the car
when they were growing up.

Music soothes my soul, and can also motivate me
to break out in a little jig around the house!
I've always thought, if only teachers would
put everything to music,
such as math problems, then
I would have been a real whiz in school!!! he-he.
(oh my! I'm probably dating myself here)
Does anyone say  the word "whiz" anymore?

How about you?
What tricks do you do to de-stress
or simply enjoy?
Really, I want to know.
Oh and thank you for letting me go on an on
about my life and music and for
reading clear to the end of this post and
not getting bored.
Wow! You must really like me! he-he

I'm singing about you..... can you hear me?
YOU are my Sunshine,
my many Sunshines.
YOU make me Happy when skies are gray.....

Goodmorning! how about some music notes floating out from Mrs birds mouth out into the air? Maybe the notes could have hearts as their bases. "Singing notes of Love "
Hugs,
Jackie

I love music even though I am not musical in any way. Luckily, I'm a pro at turning music on and appreciating other people's talents. I adore seeing the pictures of you and your parents and siblings when you were younger.
To destress I enjoy making greeting cards, looking at old photos and just being in my studio puttering around. :)

You've been in my prayers even still. What a privilege to pray for our friends. Hope you're doing well LeeAnn! :)

Lee Ann I love coming here and visiting. I love how you give us little glimpses into your life, present and past. :) Helps us to know you better.

I love this piece. I was thinking maybe adding words to a song you love along the tree branches. But whatever you choose to add or not add, it's beautiful!!

Hugs!!

I love your adorable blue bird. AFter seeing the immeasureably adorable pic of you and your sisters-maybe you could add another bird or even two, somewhere either on the branch or in the painting. It's really a very happy painting. It was so fun to hear about your singing- I don't sound good when I sing but I love to sing. I would love to hear you and your husband sing in church.
Thanks for your heart felt notes on my blog. Your future sounds full of magic- and song!

I love your picture. I was thinking that perhaps your bird could have some musical notes coming out of her. I see that Jackie said that also. By the way, I linked to you in my post today...hopefully that is okay :)

Nice Bird! No Kisses Please! Like the pics and borrowing some for my own collection although someone's missing. It looks like you've found some time to explore your passions.

Oops, Randy I am so sorry that it looks like I left you, my little brother, out of my siblings memories on this post. You were just such a little squirt during this time. You did sing with us later though.

So this is me Lee Ann telling all of my bloggy friends out there that I have a younger brother named Randy that I love very much.

Love the pictures and the memories. I have posted twice about the power of music and one of those post was on how I use it to re-energize...so I totally hear you and agree.
I can't imagine life without music. We have been playing some oldies for our kids lately, what is funny is most of those oldie songs are back in style.
I love the bird and the music hat...my husband, son and daughter all write songs, so I think the hat is great!

Blessings as you create and enjoy dancing around and singing. I think the memories of the past are also great...it reminds us of God's hand on our lives!!!

What a great name for a blog! I saw your blog on Janette Wright's post. I too love music and sing on the worship team at my church. I love to exercise to praise music as well. And my non-spiritual way to destress is to go to the movies and eat popcorn!

The birdie is super cute already!

To destress I head to the bookstore, or to my bathtub, or turn on music. I love music too.

Enjoy the weekend!

In the forth grade my teacher DID put our math to music and I still remember it! We are a very musical family. Neal plays the sax. Natalie starts piano next week. They are good singers! I come from a long line of song birds!

I love your song bird. I just painted a chickadee this week too. Haven't finished it yet. Birds make me happy. They just sing and tweet and seem content taking care of their little families.

Oh my gosh...what a wonderful blog. Your post along with the song and your signature at the end made me want to cry. When I read the quote 'music is what feelings sound like', I thought it was so funny (not funny ha ha :) because I make jewelry and one of the quotes I found for a recent order was 'music is love in search of a word'... so I just wanted to share that. :)

And your little birdie is so cute..you're very talented!

I'd love to see some words from a song floating around the piece. See others agree and oh ya I like their notes idea too. My oldest played cello for 7 years and I just adored listening to him play as I am not at all musically inclined. But then he stopped. sigh... at least I can listen to it!

Maybe an umbrella & raindrops. Then your little bird could be singing in the rain.
