"One day at a time--this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering."

Back From A Celebration

We've been away visiting family and celebrating
my grandson, Ezra's very first birthday!

He is a cutie and a very busy little mover of a boy!

I caught a picture of my hubby
also having fun playing with our sweeties!

My big bear hug from my granddaughter, Ella just
before we had to head out the door to travel back home!

These times together are so priceless!
I only wish distance didn't separate us so much.
I'm trying to think of new and creative
ways to stay  close in heart
and connected though miles apart.

Please tell me some of your secrets
to keeping your family
close when distance separates you?
I would love to add your ideas to my list.

Oh and please come back tomorrow
because I am having a GIVEAWAY!!

Grandchildren are the most precious ting...yours are adorable and just think we each have a grandson the same age....we can share what they're up to......
Mine are 1hr50minutes away...not too far but I can't see them everyday so there are a couple of things I do....Are you familiar with SKYPE....its a free program you get on your computer, you do need a camera in your computer or you can get one and attach it to the top.....this way you can talk to them face to face and see each other...I love telling them good night and having them call me this way when something very important happends.......
I send them a package with little packages inside to open each day...
My daughter takes pictures during the day and sends them to me on her phone...her phone will also do short videos....I'll share some more with you later....
Can't wait to see your give away...I am excited....
Hugs and Blessings

Personalities shine through the photos you've taken. My heart goes out to you and I pray you find some great ways to stay close. My two grandchildren only live a half hour away so I'm no help to you in this. I know you will find a way...is moving closer a possibility :-)

Bren,
We live 6 hours away currently from them. My son-in-law is a Wesleyan Pastor and just accepted a new lead pastor position at a church 2 hours further away- so now it will be 8-9 hrs distance from us. I am happy for them because I know God has opened this up for them to minister to others there....and besides you just can't argue with God since He knows what is best!!! We have another daughter who lives 45 min from us, so moving really wouldn't solve anything. Instead I'm counting on thinking up new ways to make it all work to stay close at heart.

Nancy,
Yes, we do have Skype and a camera. We need to use it more and I'm sure we will. Wow, do you send a package to your grandchildren every day? This is an area that I could start being better at and I like the idea of your daughter videoing it on her phone and sending it to you. What a great idea! Thank you for sharing. I'm anxious to hear more of your ideas.

You have no idea how much all of your comments mean to me. Thank you..Thank you...Thank you...

I love "Butterfly Works" idea of sending packages, but don't you think it would be great to send a care-package to the son-in-law, too? :)

Love ya Momma G!

I hope Ezra's birthday was grand! We're expecting g'son #2 any day now...Whee!
They're about 45 minutes away, but it still feels like the other side of the world, so I can't begin to imagine your situation.
We don't have Skype, but if we did...
prayers n hugs~

Stevan,

Ya know, I think I could squeeze in a surprise or two in a few of those care-packages for my great son-in-law! Hmmm, now what will it be?? You must wait and see.

Love you too!

Love the love in your pics and post! I can just imagine you writing little stories for those grandkiddies...sending them hand-illustrated stories from grandma. They'd become favorites that are read and re-read, I'd bet. You and your words and images would pop up in their very dreams. Childhood reads stay with you forever.....

Jennifer,

What a great idea to write and illustrate some children's stories and send them to my grandchildren. At age 4, my granddaughter has a wonderful imagination and when we are together, she usually has me pretending to be one of her favorite stuffed animals and then we make up stories and act them out with the animals. This is a perfect long distance idea! Thank you!

Your family is so darling. Our family is in Ohio and we are in New York so I relate. I can't imagine what it was like before texting, facebook, and email. I can even see my grand girl on webcam if I want to.
Blessings,

I'm afraid I'm no help in this area...my daughters both live within 15 minutes of my home and I see my Grandbabes almost every day. I'm afraid I would wither away if I couldn't see them whenever I want. Thank God for blessings. The main thing is to let them know they are loved and looks like you already have a good handle on that one.
